The Iced Golden Milk Latte. It’s all the rage, but it’s all the rage because it’s glorious. If you had asked me 5 years ago if I would be looking forward to a drink composed mostly of coconut milk and turmeric and a bunch of other spices, I would have said, “Uh yeah right. No thanks. Pass me the Mountain Dew.”
But praise be to the good Lord above, we evolve and change as we grow older. We take chances and try new things. And the more chances I have taken, and the more new things I have tried, the more I have begun to love a wide variety of foods and places that I never thought I would…and I’m a whole lot healthier for it!
So I’ve tried some different recipes, made some tiny tweaks, and this is my version. The closest version to it is from 40 Aprons, a fantastic website for some amazing recipes you’ll love.
We originally tried out this delicious drink to try and help Wes’s sinus inflammation. He struggles greatly with facial migraines, but once we started removing inflammatory foods and drinks from his diet, he started feeling a whole helluva lot better. And this iced golden milk latte is the shiz because we saw its benefits almost immediately…and, well…it tastes pretty darn good.
Here are a few of the main benefits of this delicious, iced beauty:
*supports the liver
*anti-inflammatory
*supports digestion
*immune system supporter
How to Make the Golden Milk Latte
Ingredients Needed:
- 3 cups milk of choice like almond (unsweetened) or coconut. I used Coconut Milk (from the carton). You can also do half coconut and half almond.
- 3 Tbsp. Organic Raw Honey (some prefer Maple Syrup)
- 2 tsp. Organic ground turmeric
- 1/4 tsp. Organic ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. Organic ground ginger
- Pinch Organic ground black pepper
- Pinch Organic ground cardamom
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
You’ve got to mix those ingredients REALLY well. Typically Wes and I just shake it up in a cocktail shaker. But today I used the Vitamix to combine them all, because I had a more solidified, raw honey, and wanted it to mix in really well with the rest of the ingredients.
And don’t leave any of the spices out! They work together in harmony to help each other give us the maximum nutritional benefits of the drink…especially that black pepper. Sometimes Wes and I even add in Black Pepper essential oil. We get ours here.
Pour that delicious mixture over ice in your favorite glass. Add that nice reusable straw (if you need a straw, this is where we got ours), and then enjoy the deliciousness that is an iced golden milk latte. I think you’re gonna love it.
